Joint Police Force Could Be In The Works For East Lyme, Old Lyme

EAST LYME, CT - East Lyme and Old Lyme officials have been discussing the possibility of creating a joint police force, the New London Day reported. The force would serve both towns and serve as a potential model for other communities.

Officials said these talks are very preliminary, according to the New London Day. They hope the joint force would efficiently deliver while also improving necessary police services for both towns. (To sign up for the Lymes breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Old Lyme is currently a resident state trooper town, the New London Day reported. East Lyme recently established an independent police department, currently comprised of 23 full-time police officers and one part-time police officer.
