JUDY FRIDAY "MIXING IT UP" at The Cooley Gallery

A rare week goes by when the artist Judy Friday doesn't come in to The Cooley Gallery, her mind excitedly whirring and full of ideas. No medium is out of bounds. Paper, metal, wood, or ink succumb to all manner of interpretations. This latest exhibition, Mixing It Up, is the result of many hours of trials. Judy's a perfectionist, undaunted by the demands of process. In fact, the common denominator throughout Judy's work is process.  Each element of each piece is the result of careful study and experimentation in anticipation of its role as some part of a greater whole.  Process is very much how Judy's mind works.

Judy is her own harshest critic. She demands more of herself than most artists we know and she's relentless. She's influenced by some of the more cerebral artists of our times. Sometimes she sets limits just to push through them.

This exhibition will include over 30 new works in a variety of media and reflects Judy's boundless curiosity and creative imagination.

"Mixing It Up" opens July 20th and runs through August 24th.  Two shows are opening at The Cooley Gallery that day with "Art and Money” - Michael Theise and John Yerger.
