What are some ways Parents can lead by example for their children? Let's discuss the TOP 3: 1) PROPER NUTRITION: Kids are already influenced enough by the classmates and society on what foods are 'popular' or 'accepted'. They need as much HOME TEAM support as possible. This includes what the parents eat with the children. If they see the parents always reaching for quick and easy snacks, they will most likely do the same. Eat healthy and do it visibly in front of the kids. It will make a bigger impact than you realize. 2) HEALTHY MINDSET: What is your standard reaction? Are you finding the worst in situations or the best in situations? Answer that question honestly and then compare it to your child. How do they react? Create a habit of being a good finder, always look for the good in things, create a positive and progressive atmosphere even in the face of bad news. 3) PHYSICAL FITNESS: With childhood obesity on a fast rise, lets not look at the youth but instead the trend setters. Lets look at the teachers, the parents, the coaches, basically... the role models! Are you setting time aside for your own health OR are you making excuses? Set time aside even for a 20 minute run and make sure they know you did it. Set the example by setting your health as a high priority and they will SEE it, instead of just HEARING it. Let's build a healthier community, together. Let's ALL lead by example, be the role model we know is needed.
