
Attention “Parent’s” with children in the EL/Niantic School District. You are invited to a “Parent Workshop Opportunity”: This special workshop will be offered on Thursday, August 22, at 6:30pm, in the Mary Broderick Auditorium at East Lyme High School. The Featured Speaker will be Dr. Don Marinelli of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Marinelli is recognized as an innovative educator of the performing arts and is co-founder of Carnegie Mellon’s unique Entertainment Technology Consortium, a college major and program where students meld their skills in technology and the arts to develop cutting edge digital products. Dr. Marinelli and his former partner Randy Pausch launched this innovative program that has now expanded to several international sites. He will discuss “The Skills and Capabilities of the 21st century digital native, a topic that is sure to interest any parent who is trying to understand a child’s passion for everything digital, from video games to online simulations and social networking.
