Man To Serve 40-Year Prison Sentence In East Lyme Stabbing: Report

A man has agreed to a plea deal in the murder of a pregnant Waterford woman at an East Lyme motel in 2018.

EAST LYME, CT — A man accused of stabbing his pregnant girlfriend to death in an East Lyme motel in 2018 has accepted a 40-year prison sentence, according to The New London Day. Avery Hallbrooks, 31, appeared in New London Superior Court on Tuesday and pleaded guilty to a charge of murder in the death of Corina Zukowski, 25, of Waterford.

By accepting the plea agreement, Hallbrooks avoids a trial in which he could have faced a maximum of 60 years in prison.
