EAST LYME, CT—When police went to a 911 call about a person in need of medical assistance what they found was a not a person in need of help, but a woman who they would soon arrest for serial shoplifting, according to East Lyme Police Chief Michael Finkelstein.

Late Friday morning, an emergency call came in where it was reported help was needed behind the Stop & Shop. Police and the Flanders Fire Department raced over to the supermarket where they encountered the "involved individuals" who had "no need for medical assistance." What police did find, was a few hundred dollars worth of merchandise stolen from Stop & Shop. And, police also found items they did not describe that were stolen from another East Lyme business othe day before.

Police arrested 39-year-old Stacey Greenwood of 6 Brook Road in Niantic and charged her with sixth-degree larceny for the alleged Stop & Shop rip-off. Police said there are "further arrests" expected related to the reported shoplifting on July 25.
