EAST LYME, CT — Nearing 3 a.m. Tuesday, an East Lyme police officer on routine patrol saw two cars, headlights on, behind a West Main pizzeria. Given the recent rash of car thefts along the shoreline, the cop hit lights and siren to do a car stop. Both cars took off speeding past him headed west on Rte 156.

One got away. Another did not. But by Tuesday morning, the second vehicle was located in Hamden. It's not yet clear if a second suspect was caught.

According to a press release from East Lyme Police, it was 2:45 a.m. when police officer Langman saw the cars in the Village Pizza parking lot and pulled in to investigate. Despite his signals for the cars to stop, they sped past him.
