Police Seeking Attempted Vehicle Break-In Suspect In East Lyme

Police said officers received reports of an individual trying to enter a vehicle in East Lyme.

EAST LYME, CT - Police said officers received a report Wednesday morning of an individual trying to enter a an unoccupied vehicle. Police said the vehicle was located at a business on Freedom Way.

Officers responded to find that nothing was taken from the vehicle and that the attempt to remove an item from the vehicle had been interrupted, according to a release. (To sign up for the Lymes breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

Police said witnesses described the suspect as a white female in her 40's. She is approximately 5 feet and 4 inches tall with a short haircut, and was wearing an orange and royal blue nylon windbreaker, police said.

Police said the suspect's vehicle was a newer grey Jeep Cherokee roof rack on top, with a red/orange sticker on the rear right of the vehicle that had the number "30" and read "Ocean City, New Jersey on it.

Police said the plate was an older-style Connecticut plate, however no plate number was obtained. The suspect was seen leaving the parking area by driving over the grass and sidewalk and was last seen getting onto the Rocky Neck Connector, police said.
