EAST LYME, CT — A reward totaling $1,500 is being offered for information that leads "to the arrest and conviction of those responsible" for the July 2 vandalism at the Niantic Boardwalk in which six memorial benches were damaged, according to East Lyme police.

"Our investigation has determined that at approximately midnight on Monday morning July 2, 2018, four males entered the boardwalk via Hole in the Wall, after arriving in a black sedan," wrote East Lyme police on the department's Facebook page. "The males exited the boardwalk less than 15 minutes later and may have been seen by other witnesses in the area. We are currently working to establish the identities of these individuals and their vehicle. We are also working to have the video/photos evidence enhanced to assist in this investigation."

The First Selectman's office and others have combined resources to create the reward.
