Sentence Handed Down In 2017 Old Lyme Narcotics Case: Feds

The defendant, a Rhode Island man, was stopped by Connecticut State Police in Old Lyme, and troopers found narcotics in the vehicle.

OLD LYME, CT — A 29-year-old Providence, RI man, who state police pulled over in Old Lyme in 2017 and found narcotics in the vehicle, was sentenced to 30 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release for fentanyl trafficking, announced United States Attorney John H. Durham.

Alcides Alba-Gomez was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Victor A. Bolden in Bridgeport on Thursday. An accomplice, Gabri Javier Delapaz, 27, also of Providence, pleaded guilty to the same offense earlier this year and awaits sentencing.

According to prosecutors and court documents, in September, 2017, the two traveled from Rhode Island to New York to pick up narcotics from a supplier, and as they were returning to Rhode Island, Connecticut State Police troopers stopped their car on I-95 in Old Lyme.
