You Wrote a Book, Now What? Insiders' Info on Book Publishing Thursday, April 3 at 7 P.M.
Gain an insider’s view of book publishing on Thursday, April 3, 2014, from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Lyme Public Library. Literary Agent, Jan L. Kardys, and award winning self-published author, Jeanne E. Rogers, will be on hand to discuss all aspects of the publishing industry. You will learn the pros and cons of traditional and self-publishing, how to land the right agent,
how to best research your competition and how to write a better query letter.
You will also be introduced to the benefits of social media and why it is
necessary to get involved. There will be a PowerPoint presentation and handouts for all attendees.
Jan L. Kardys’ diverse book publishing career includes executive
positions at ten of the major book publishers – Doubleday, St. Martin’s Press, Scholastic, Macmillan, Scribner’s, Little, Brown & Company, Warner Books, Harcourt Brace Jovanovich, Lippincott & Crowell, Publishers, Simon &
Schuster/Prentice Hall and Condé NastPublications. Her experience and
know-how are in editorial, art/production, subsidiary rights, contracts,
copyrights, permissions, book agenting, editing, writer’s conferences,
publishing consulting, and freelance editing. Jan worked for Google for
three years where she added Internet sales and marketing to her already
extensive expertise.
Jeanne E. Rogers is the Author of The Sword of Demelza, a Writer’s Digest award-winning self-published middle grade fantasy. She enjoys sharing her invaluable experience with self-publishing via CreateSpace, both in book and eBook format. She has successfully navigated a course through the difficult and sometimes frustrating world of writing and self-publishing and is more than happy to share her experience with fellow authors. She is familiar with all aspects of social media necessary to successfully self-publish and market a book, and is active on Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Pinterest, Goodreads, among other sites. Jeanne is a member of the Society of Environmental
Journalists, the ALA, AIA, CAPA, IBPA, IWC, and SCBWI.
