Lawmakers want to make CT first in caring for them (courant.com) — Thompsonville firefighters are at the center of a new push to expand cancer screening and prevention for first responders across Connecticut, after two local firefighters were diagnosed. Local Fire Chief David Deskis and an Enfield physician are backing proposed state legislation that would make regular, specialized screenings more accessible, especially for departments that can’t afford them now.
