TOLLAND, CT — Tolland has been left with two vacancies on the town council this week, the fallout from heated accusations that a relationship between two members had hampered their abilities to serve.

Jon Graney had resigned prior to Tuesday's council meeting and Jennifer Buckler followed on Thursday.

Graney cited family and business responsibilities in his letter. Buckler could not be reached for immediate comment.

Both earned seats on the council in the November municipal election with Buckler, a Democrat, garnering 2,287 votes and Graney, also a Democrat, getting 2,313 votes.

The Tolland Democratic Town Committee now has 30 days to bring forth nominees to fill the vacancies, per the town charter.

"The Democratic Town Committee will be convening to nominate individuals to fill the two vacancies as required," Chairman Cris Jimenez said.

Council Chairman Christopher Moran was taking the high road.

"My focus, and the focus of the council, has been, and will continue to be, for the good of our Tolland community and conducting the business the residents of Tolland elected us to do," he said.
