TOLLAND, CT — A 20-year-old man from Stafford surrendered to state police on Thursday to face a first-degree sexual assault charge for what is described on a warrant as a one-time fling with a 12-year-old. Matthew Noto, whose listed address in a warrant is 176 Fenton Road, Stafford, was also charged with risk of injury to a minor at the Troop C barracks, state police said. State police began an investigation on June 9, when a classmate of the girl told them what might be happening, according to a warrant. When state police asked the girl about it, she said she knew the man and he was visiting. There was a gathering around a fire pit ad the two wound up together in a camper on the property in Tolland county, according to a warrant. Noto told investigators the girl initiated the sex.
