Chair Report: August 9th Meeting Preview
Firehouse Improvement Plan Update, ARPA Fund Proposals, Surplus Public Safety Equipment and more to be discussed.
Good Morning, and Happy first Friday of August Tolland! From the Council Chair, providing a preview of our regular meeting to be held on August 9th.
First, the Town Council will be continuing a discussion first had on July 26th regarding the Firehouse Improvement Plans. Due to inflation, the general cost of bids, materials and labor have increase dramatically, causing the town to reconsider the scope of the project. Town staff will be on hand to discuss the timeline of events that occurred and solutions going forward to complete as much work as possible with the funds that were approved at the town-wide referendum in 2021.
For the second item of business, the Town Council will be reviewing and considering taking action on several recommendations for use of Tolland’s American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds. These recommendations include a number of capital improvement projects that will provide long-term debt relief and consulting services for the Tolland Mental Health Task Force.

The third item for consideration before the Town Council is a resolution to declare Rescue Truck 240 as surplus property within the town. This vehicle is from 2002 and is being replaced by another truck that was ordered last year. If approved, the truck will be advertised for sale in “as is” condition.
The final item for action on the council’s agenda is several appointments and reappointments to various boards and commissions, which includes four members of the Commission on People with Disabilities and three members of the Agriculture Commission.
