Chair Report: November 8th Meeting Preview

SHPO Application Update, ARPA Spending on Fire Truck and Appointments to Boards & Commissions to be Discussed

Good Morning, and a pleasant first Friday of November neighbors! From the Council Chair, providing a preview of the Tuesday, November 8th regular meeting.

First, the Town Council will be reviewing and revising an application through SHPO (State Historic Preservation Office) for restoration, repairs and building and ADA ramp for the Old Tolland County Jail and Museum. The town was awarded $20,000 for consulting services towards an architectural plan. The revision required to execute the contract is including Town Manager Brian Foley’s name to the agreement, who was hired after the application was submitted.

The second item of business is a consideration of a resolution approving the ARPA subcommittee's recommendation to use the funds towards procuring a Fire Rescue Truck not to exceed $1,000,000. This fire truck is currently a part of the town’s Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) and approval of these funds would take this expenditure off the plan. The Subcommittee unanimously approved this recommendation be sent to the Town Council at their October 27th regular meeting.
