Cigarette Bandits In Stolen Car Hold Up Tolland Store

A store clerk was roughed up during a store theft in Tolland early Thursday, state police said.

TOLLAND, CT — State police are searching for cigarette pirates who pillaged a gas station convenience store in Tolland early Thursday.

State Police detectives with the Eastern District Major Crime Squad, the investigating entity, said the robbery occurred at the Mobil Gas Station, at 56 Merrow Road.

The initial call came in at 1:43 a.m.

According to an incident report, a woman entered the store and began stealing cigarette cartons. When confronted by the store attendant, a man entered the establishment and began to "assault and restrain" the attendant, according to a report.

The suspects then fled in a getaway car described as a 2008 blue Honda Civic bearing CT registration AX16066. It was driven by another man, according to an incident report.

The Honda was confirmed to be stolen out of Farmington on Aug. 9.

State Police released surveillance images of the caper. Anyone who can identify the bandits can contact Det. Kyle Gorra at (860)896-3238.
