Controversial Strip Club Billboard Being Replaced: Official
Tolland's town manager said a controversial strip club billboard is being replaced along I-84.

TOLLAND, CT — A billboard on Interstate-84 advertising a Tolland strip club that has drawn the ire of local residents is being taken down, Town Manager Steve Werbner said Thursday.
"For those residents following the Electric Blue sign controversy, please be aware that the owner of the facility has agreed to remove the current sign," Werbner said.
Werbner said it might take a month for a replacement to be designed and installed.

"Knowing that the owner is aware of the sensitivity surrounding the current sign, we are hopeful that any replacement will be visually more acceptable," Werbner said.
The Electric Blue in Tolland maintains a billboard constantly between exits 70 and 69 along Interstate-84 and the latest version shows dancers in bikinis and one seemingly about to do a pole dance.

Werbner on Monday said he received "several complaints" last week and wrote to the owner of the club and "asked his consideration in revising the content of the sign."
Werbner said he also wrote to the state Department of Transportation, "Expressing our concern with the sign content and asked if they could reconsider the permit for this sign."
Electric Blue Public Relations Director Katrina Kulakova had said the billboard was harmless and showed only bikini-clad women.
