Dedication of Sundial & Celestial Clock 11:30am - Senior Park

The Wanat Senior Conservation Park on Sugar Hill Road recently celebrated its grand opening with the unveiling of the labyrinth, which included amphitheater seating and a compass rose. This followed the earlier unveiling of the pollinator garden in September. Sunday, Dec. 19 (postponed from Saturday, the 18th) at 11:30 am will be the dedication of the Sundial and Celestial Clock in the center of the labyrinth. Overseeing the entire park will be a majestic heron sculpture created by Joe Marandino of Tolland. (Stay tuned as the Conservation Commission will be hosting a "naming contest" for the beautiful heron). A stargazing party is planned for the evening of December 18. The Wanat family donated the land (which includes a meadow area, a silo, and forested sections) to the town as an open space recreational site for older adults.
