DOT to Close Route 74 for Bridge Work
Road Closure to happen on Route 74 and South River Road on the Tolland and Willington Town Line.

TOLLAND, CT - From the Connecticut Department of Transportation: The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that a complete road closure will be needed the weekend of August 12th and 13th, to complete the approaches to the new Bridge over the Willimantic River. Route 74 will be closed at the end of the I-84 EB Exit 69 ramp in Tolland to the Railroad Crossing in Willington.
The project consists of the replacement of the Bridge over the Willimantic River; to construct the bridge out of the flood plan required the new bridge to be built three feet higher in elevation. In order to make the transition to the new bridge safely and quickly it was decided to close the road. Sheeting is required to hold the new roadway while the temporary bridge is removed.
DOT Project No. 0160-0139 was awarded to Brunalli Construction, Co. work started April of last year and is scheduled to be completed the end of November.
