Town Council Endorsement

For Chris Moran

It is my pleasure to endorse Chris Moran for Tolland Town Council. As a Tolland resident who began my career in public service on the Tolland Board of Education, I am keenly aware of the importance of electing dedicated, ethical, and hardworking individuals to serve our community. Chris embodies these qualities and Tolland would be lucky to have him on the Town Council.

Chris and his husband, Cris, are raising their two-year-old son in Tolland. Having a young child makes Chris particularly aware of the need to ensure Tolland's long-term success. He will be a strategic thinker who makes decisions with the best interests of all residents in mind. This forward-thinking mentality will ensure that Tolland continues to be the perfect place to live and raise a family for years to come.

Chris loves Tolland. He is actively involved in town as a member of the Tolland Democratic Town Committee and the United Congregational Church of Tolland. Chris and his husband moved to Tolland because of its quality schools, historic charm, amazing parks, and open spaces. These are also attributes that drove Chris to run for Town Council. He wants to ensure that current residents, and future ones, will be able to enjoy all that Tolland has to offer.

As an attorney, Chris is often called to work with others of varying viewpoints during contentious disagreements to reach a consensus acceptable to both parties. This experience will benefit our community because Chris will be well prepared to work with all members of the Town Council, regardless of political affiliation or background. Now more than ever, civility in local government is of the utmost importance. Chris will bring a strong character and work ethic, as well as a commitment to work across party lines, to the Town Council. He is able to see all sides of an issue and the Town Council will be better for it.

Chris understands that the Town Council must make decisions that are in the best interests of all town residents. He will make investments in our public schools, public safety, and public works based on data and input from the community. He is committed to ensuring that all residents are safe and have access to clean drinking water. He is also mindful of the financial impact decisions made by the Town Council have on residents, including working families and seniors. He will continue to build on the work begun by the current Town Council of simplifying and broadening the property tax relief program for seniors and people with disabilities. He will also encourage the development of appropriately zoned businesses to help ease the tax burden on town residents.

Finally, Chris's diverse family represents what is best about Tolland. Tolland is a town where all its residents are welcome and at home regardless of their background. It is important that a town's elected leaders reflect the population it represents; Chris certainly satisfies this quality. I know that Chris will ensure that all Tolland residents can participate in and have a voice in town events and decisions.

Tolland's future is bright with public servants like Chris volunteering their time to better our community. Chris will undoubtedly serve as a voice for all Tolland residents. That is why I enthusiastically endorse Chris Moran for Tolland Town Council in the November 7th municipal election.

Sincerely,

Nancy Wyman
