LETTER: Support Tolland Democrats on Nov. 3

I write on behalf of the Democratic candidates for election to the Town Council and Board of Education in Tolland. I support them not because they are Democrats --- in my experience party affiliation should mean little at this level of governance --- I support them because they bring the necessary leadership skills, thoughtful long-term planning, and a love of our community to these vital volunteer roles.

Sam Adlerstein, Patrick Doyle, Karen Moran, Kathy Gorsky and Cliff Vachon have been providing exactly the strong leadership that our public schools have needed during a time of transition. Susan Seaver will be the addition that they need to work with our new Superintendent and continue the strong forward progress has been happening in our schools.

At the Town Council, we require leaders that will hold our professional town staff to high standards and give thoughtful consideration to the commitments made on behalf of citizens and taxpayers. I enthusiastically recommend Rick Field, Paul Krasusky, Kristen Morgan, and David Skoczulek to fill these roles. They are an ideal blend of experience and fresh perspective.

We need these two volunteer bodies to work together in the best interests of Tolland residents. I trust this team to ask the hard questions and make the tough decisions required to grow as a whole community and keep our civic institutions strong. We need the belief in the future, the commitment, and the common sense that they bring to the table. Join me in supporting Tolland’s future on November 3rd.
