Man Hits 95 MPH in Tolland, Arrested on DUI Charge: Cops

The DUI incident took place early Sunday morning.

TOLLAND, CT — A man was arrested after whipping along a stretch of Interstate-84 early Sunday morning at nearly 100 mph while impaired, state police said.

Matthew Michanczyk, 52, of Lindsey Lane, Willington, was seen driving erratically on I-84 eastbound at 3:02 a.m. on Sunday, according to an arrest report.

He was clocked at 95 mph, state police said.

He left the highway and was pulled over on Route 74, according to an arrest report.

Troopers noticed bloodshot eyes and smelled alcohol when questioning Michanczyk and he failed sobriety tests, according to an arrest report.

In addition to driving under the influence, Michanczyk was charged with reckless driving, disobeying the signal of an officer and a stop sign violation, state police said. He is due in court on July 5, state police said.
