Opening ceremonies for the new field at Tolland High School have been scheduled for Sept. 20.
The event will be in conjunction with a football game against Rocky Hill scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
The current sports complex at Tolland High school is being converted to an all-purpose artificial turf field with lights. The nearly $1 million project is being touted as a collaborative effort between municipal and school system officials. The bill is being footed by state grants and private donations, town officials said. A portion of the cost was bonded.
The festivities are to include pre-game and halftime ceremonies and a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony.
More details on the program will be forthcoming, town officials said.
