TOLLAND, CT — A man who was in prison in an assault conviction has been charged with violating a protective order for asking the victim in the case to help him buy guns after being released.

The case dates back to January, when state police were contacted about letters sent to a Tolland woman, according to a warrant.

The letters were from 26-year-old Andre Linton, who was serving a prison sentence for assaulting the woman and had been issued a full-no contact order by a judge to stay away from her, according to a warrant.

The letters were written from prison and, in one of them, Linton asked her to go to Vermont with him to buy guns after his release, according to a warrant. He also asked her to request that the protective order be dropped.

Linton also wanted the woman's phone number on a friend's account and asked that money be put into that account so he could call without being caught, a warrant states.
