Public Meeting Scheduled for Route 74/195 Improvements

A public informational meeting has been scheduled for Dec. 10.

The Department of Transportation (DOT) is hosting a public informational meeting concerning the proposed intersection improvements to Route 74 and Route 195 in the vicinity of the Tolland Green.

The meeting will be held Thursday, Dec. 10 (snow date: Dec. 15) in Conference Room A of the Hicks Memorial Municipal Center at 21 Tolland Green in Tolland. A formal presentation by DOT officials will begin at 7 p.m.

The improvements will address vehicular and pedestrian safety concerns and ways to reduce congestion in the area. To learn more about the proposed improvements, you can read the press release from DOT here.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring of 2018 as long as funding is secured. The estimated cost, funded 80 percent by the Federal Government and 20 percent by the state, is approximately $4 million.
