Stable After Battling a Brain Tumor, Young Tolland Resident Escorted to the Olympics by Make-a-Wish, Hartford Police

The Olympics have been a big part of Quinn Ostergren's battle and recovery.

TOLLAND, CT — Even by Quinn Ostergren's standards, Wednesday was a milestone.

After all, it was a Hartford police escort to New York and then to the Olympics in Rio.

Quinn is a 6-year-old Tolland Resident who was diagnosedat age 2 with a brain tumor. Over the past four years, she has gone through surgeries, chemotherapy and other treatments, but is now, as her mom, Alyssa, said, "stable and healthy and driving me bananas."

Quinn was born during the 2010 Winter Olympics, and two years later, the 2012 Summer Olympics were taking place when Quinn was diagnosed with the tumor. She spent all of her time in the hospital watching the Olympics with Alyssa and her dad, Tom, to pass the time.

Quinn asked Make-a-Wish Connecticut if she could go to the Olympics. It took some time, but the wish came true and on Wednesday, she and her parents boarded a limousine to JFK Airport in New York City and eventually to Rio to see the games.

Quinn and Alyssa have tickets to the opening ceremony and Tom will try to secure a pass when he gets there.

They hope to see gymnastics and women's basketball as well.

Hartford police officers decided to make the trip a little more special by coming to the Ostergren's Anthony Road home and providing an escort along local roads and Interstate-84 to the city line.

Hartford police offer their services regularly to Wish Kids.

The motorcade ambled down Anthony Road to state route 195 and eventually I-84.
