TOLLAND, CT — Tolland has a fine system in place for residents who fail to clear sidewalks and hydrants in front of and adjacent to their properties.

They must both be cleared 24 hours after the snow stops falling with each storm, according to local ordinance. It's officially Town of Tolland Ordinance Article II Section 130-6.

"Please remember if you have a fire hydrant on your property or near you, please shovel a 3-foot radius around the fire hydrant," Tolland Fire Department officials said. "Protecting the life and property of you, your family, your friends, and your neighbors is very important. If you do not shovel around your fire hydrant, the water supply to put out a fire will be delayed."
