Tolland Hires Planning and Development Director

The Tolland Town Manager’s office is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Heidi Samokar to the position of Director of Planning and Community Development.

Samokar is an experienced planning professional and has worked in the field for almost 20 years. She holds a B.S. from the University of Connecticut and a Masters degree in Community Planning from the University of Rhode Island.

She is AICP certified with the American Institute of Certified Planners. She has experience in many facets of land use planning, including zoning regulation updates, site plan and subdivision reviews, open space/housing/town center plan development, grant applications and project management.

Her work experience includes working for the Southeastern Connecticut Council of Governments in Norwich, the Metropolitan Area Planning Council in Boston, and most notably as a Senior Planner for Planimetrics, Inc. in Avon.

She will begin her full-time duties on Aug. 31.
