Tolland Officials Considering $9.6M Bond Issue for School Improvements
A Town Council public hearing has been scheduled to garner input.

TOLLAND, CT — Residents in August will get a chance to comment on a proposal to put $9.6 million toward a series of improvements to Tolland's educational facilities.
A public hearing on the matter is scheduled for Aug 9 at the Hicks Municipal Center as part of the Town Council's regularly scheduled 7:30 p.m. meeting.
The $9.6 million would be funded through general obligation bonds, Town Manager Steve Werbner said. The project involves "various school improvements" that are key to the "integrity" of some buildings in town, he said.

A vote on the bond issue would likely be part of the November ballot, he said.

Werbner said 38 percent of the project cost would be eligible for reimbursement under the State School Construction Grant Program. That means the state would pick up $3,647,165 of the tab if certain criteria are met.
