Tolland Officials Cracking Down on Unleashed Dogs on Municipal Property

The fine for an unleashed dog in a Tolland park can be nearly $100.

TOLLAND, CT — Tolland Animal Control is receiving an increase in complaints regarding dogs off leash as well as nuisance/aggressive dogs at several Town parks and trail systems and animal control officers are thus reminding dog owners that canines must be leashed at all times while on all Town property.

Animal control officers will be "stepping up their efforts to locate offenders and may issue infraction tickets to violators," town officials said on Monday.

The fine for "not having direct control over a dog" is $92 and a nuisance or aggressive dog is subject to a $75 fine for the first offense and court summons for a second offense, town officials said.
