Tolland Officials Weighing Cash Option For Fire Truck Purchase
Tolland officials are discussing cash versus bonding options for a fire truck purchase.

TOLLAND, CT — Tolland officials are weighing an option to purchase a new fire and rescue truck with cash as opposed to borrowing.
A public hearing has been scheduled for Sept. 8 to discuss the options as part of the 7 p.m. town council meeting.
Bonding was approved for the $750,000 purchase in July 2019 and the need to replace an aging truck was identified even before that, Tolland Town Manager Michael Rosen said. The truck was included in the 2019-20 fiscal year capital budget, he said.

The money to purchase the truck is available via the town budget's capital non recurring account, he said.
A definite funding source must be identified before the truck specifications can be finalized for bidding, according to council minutes from an Aug. 25 meeting.
