Tolland Police Services Report to Be Presented at Meeting

A report has been compiled on the potential future of police services in Tolland.

TOLLAND, CT — The Tolland Town Council has scheduled a special meeting for Feb. 22 to present a report on the future of police services for the municipality.

The meeting is slated for 7 p.m. a the Fire Training Center on Merrow Road.

Town Council Chairman William Eccles offered a preview on Thursday:

"The consultant's report showed some of what I expected to see. For example, I wasn't surprised to see that the Resident State Troopers and Troop C offer a lot of capabilities which would otherwise be very expensive to establish on our own," he said. "However, I was surprised to see that surrounding communities have enormous police departments in comparison to ours. And it showed that there may be options to enhance our coverage and policing presence in town through other means which I think we should investigate fully.

"I'll be interested to converse with the consultants directly about the study results and hear more about the results."
