TOLLAND, CT — The Town of Tolland will host a free paper-shredding event on Saturday, April 18, 2026, at Tolland High School. The event is scheduled for 9 a.m. to noon. in the rear parking lot, according to the town notice.

The event is for residents bringing personal paper documents for shredding. The town said proof of residency will be required, and resident verification will be done with a driver's license. Accepted documents will be personal, residential documents only. Commercial or business documents will not be accepted.

The town set a limit of three bags or boxes per resident. The notice also says only sensitive documents should be brought for shredding. It states that junk mail, magazines, books, cards, envelopes, metal ring binders and school papers will not be accepted.

The town said non-sensitive documents may be routinely recycled instead of brought to the event. It also said documents that require shredding should be packed in secure bags or boxes that can support the weight of the material. Those containers should also be easy for staff to access within a vehicle for unloading.

Residents should also know that any containers or receptacles used to deliver documents for shredding will not be returned, according to the notice. That means people planning to attend may want to use disposable boxes or bags for drop-off.
