
TOLLAND, CT — Ton officials on Tuesday issued the following announcement about dog licensing:
Tolland Animal Control would like to thank the many dog owners who have already licensed their dogs and remind residents that all dogs over 6 months of age residing in Connecticut must have a current license. Annual licensing begins June 1st each year. Owners who have not purchased a 2016 license are considered overdue at this time.

Tolland is now offering residents the convenience of renewing your dog license online by using your MasterCard, Visa, Discover credit or debit card. Simply click the link provided above. This service is for license renewals only; dogs must have a current rabies vaccination on file. An additional convenience fee of $1.75 will be charged per license to allow for this online service. First time licenses must be obtained in person or by mail.
As always you may stop by the Town Clerk’s Office to purchase a new tag. As of September 1, 2016 the cost is $11.00 for Spayed/Neutered dogs or $22.00 for dogs not Spayed/Neutered which includes the overdue fee.

Licenses are available in the Town Clerk’s Office located in Town Hall during regular business hours. Hours are Monday, Tuesday,Wednesday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Thursday 8:00 AM to 7:30 PM, Friday closed.
Or mail a copy of your dog’s current Rabies Certificate, proof of Spay/Neuter (if applicable), a self-addressed stamped envelope and your check payable to “Town of Tolland”, to the Town Clerk’s Office, 21 Tolland Green, Tolland, CT 06084 Attn: Dog Licenses. If you choose to mail in for your dog's license please remember you must include a self-addressed, stamped envelope.
Overdue Fees: Any dog owner found not to have licensed their dog after June 30, 2016 is subject to fines of $1.00 per month that the license is overdue. If you had a dog licensed in 2015 and no longer own that dog, please contact the Town Clerk’s Office 860-871-3630 or email animalcontrol@tolland.org to remove that dog from the listing. The overdue fee set by the State of Connecticut.
IMPORTANT: Please take note that by failing to license your dog(s) with the town each year, you are also in violation of Connecticut State Statute §22-338. This violation carries an additional penalty of $75.00 for each unlicensed dog owned or kept by you, should an infraction ticket is issued. Animal Control Officers are required to issue infraction tickets to those in violation of the State statute. If you have any questions regarding licensing, please contact our office at 860-871-3676.
We welcome dog owners to enjoy our town parks and trails, however dogs MUST be leashed at all times. Our parks and trail systems are for all residents to enjoy. Please be courteous to other residents and remember animals are NOT permitted on the turf field, playgrounds, ball fields, tennis courts or school running tracks. Please remember to pick up after your pets.
