Town Seeking Conservation Commission Members

Two spots will soon be open.

TOLLAND, CT - The town is looking for Conservation Commission members.

At the end of June, there will be vacancies for a full member an alternate, town official said. The commission's charge is to promote the efficient use of energy and natural resources, which is in the best interest of the protection and enhancement of the Town’s environment and economy as well as "the health of the current and future generation of residents," town officials said.

Candidates should submit a letter of interest and/or resume highlighting pertinent skills, level of interest and ability to attend meetings and event to: vacancies@tolland.org.

Conservation Commission members must be Tolland residents and registered voters.

The Conservation Commission was created on August 25, 1998 by resolution 03-40 with an advisory function on open space issues. Its current mission includes research, maintaining an inventory of open space areas, development of conservation education programs, evaluation and proposal for open space acquisition, and oversight of the town’s conservation areas.

The commission meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Hicks Municipal Center. The first meeting of the month is in Conference Room C on the second floor or the Council Chambers on the sixth floor and the second meeting of the month is in Conference Room B on the second floor.
