The Town seeks applications for the position of certified Firefighter/EMT (Public Safety Officer). Starting salary $26.51/hr. w/benefits. Mon.-Fri. - 40 hrs/week.

Position performs firefighting, emergency medical services and equipment operation while responding to fire or emergency medical calls, accidents or community disasters, etc. Ability to perform skilled repair and preventive maintenance work in maintaining fire apparatus, equipment, alarm systems, fire stations and completes assigned administrative tasks.
Minimum requirements are generally H. S. diploma and training in firefighting, equipment maintenance and emergency medical training and two years’ experience as a firefighter or rescue operator or EMT with current Class II Q Motor Vehicle Operators License, Emergency Medical Technician, Medical EMT-Defibrillation, and Firefighter I certifications. The ideal candidate would have two years’ experience in firefighting, rescue operations and as an Emergency Medical Technician, as well as possess: Valid Class 2Q Connecticut Motor Vehicle Driver’s License, current State of Connecticut Emergency Medical Technician-B/Medical EMT-Defibrillation certification, certification from the State of Connecticut as a Firefighter I and Hazardous Materials - Operational Level certification.
