• City of Torrington is under ‘Local State of Emergency', city officials say (nbcconnecticut.com) — Torrington is under a Local State of Emergency after July Fourth storms downed trees and powerlines, closing numerous roads and creating hazardous conditions. Mayor Molly Spino urges residents to shelter in place and avoid unnecessary travel while emergency crews work to secure areas so utilities can safely restore power.
• Eversource bringing in crews from out of state and Canada to help restore power (wtnh.com) — Thousands in northwest Connecticut are still without power after Saturday’s powerful storms, including 3,324 customers in Torrington and 2,228 in Harwinton. Eversource has brought in crews from other states and Canada to speed restoration and urges residents to avoid downed wires and report hazards immediately.
