Torrington police say the Jeep's driver was unhurt and cooperative, and their Accident Investigation Team is still working to determine what happened before fully reopening the road.
• Gala celebrates community health center amid looming Medicaid crisis (lakevillejournal.com) — Torrington residents who rely on Community Health and Wellness Center could feel the impact of looming federal Medicaid changes that may cut coverage for many families. The Torrington-founded nonprofit, now running health centers in Torrington, Winsted and North Canaan plus school clinics, is warning supporters that a 2027 "Medicaid cliff" could strain its finances and patient care.
• Naugatuck deputy police chief released on non-surety bond after domestic violence arrest (nhregister.com) — A domestic violence case involving Naugatuck's deputy police chief will unfold at state Superior Court in Torrington, where he's due back on October 13 after being released on a non-surety bond. For Torrington residents, that means a high-profile regional law enforcement figure is facing assault and strangulation charges in the local courthouse, while both criminal and internal investigations continue.
