Alleged Serial Counterfeiter Arrested by Trumbull PD
The incident occurred in 2010 and the suspect was arrested just days ago.

The long arms of the law reached back five years and nabbed a man accused of using counterfeit money at the Trumbull Stop and Shop.
Michael Hearst, 55, of Bridgeport was was picked up by Bridgeport Police on other charges and was charged by Trumbull Police on August 17.
Stop and Shop in Trumbull started investigating an incident were counterfeit money was used by a customer back in June 2010. Hearst allegedly purchased $206 worth of goods with counterfeit $100 bills.

An officer recognized another suspect in the counterfeit ring from a Lord and Taylor incident, police said.
Several other police departments including Milford and Norwalk were investigating the counterfeit ring. The Secret Service also got involved. Others involved in the alleged ring have already been arrested.

Hearst was charged with two counts of first-degree forgery and sixth-degree larceny. He also had an outstanding warrant for first-degree failure to appear. He is also facing charges of fifth-degree larceny and first-degree forgery in another case stemming from a 2010 arrest.
He was held in lieu of $50,000 bail.
