A New Haven man allegedly abandoned his 2-year-old daughter as he attempted to flee authorities

A New Haven man allegedly abandoned his 2-year-old daughter as he attempted to flee authorities after stealing coats at the Westfield Trumbull mall.
The incident was reported Friday night, according to the Trumbull Times. Police said Michael Burress, 29, was witnessed trying to use an object to remove security tags from coats at the H&M store.
He then allegedly stuffed the coats in a bag before leaving the store. Burress allegedly left his 2-year-old daughter in her stroller as he attempted to flee, but was caught. He was arrested and charged with risk of injury to a minor among other charges.
