TRUMBULL, CT — Police are warning Trumbull residents to aware of a recent text message scam.

In a Facebook post last week, police provided a photo of the scam message, which includes a document that appears to be a "final enforcement notice" from the state of Connecticut.

"Please be aware that if you received a text message like the one shown, it is a scam," police wrote on Facebook.

According to police, legitimate organizations will not send unsolicited text messages requesting payments or sensitive information in this manner.

Any residents who have concerns are asked to:

"Stay vigilant and help protect yourself and others by sharing this information," police wrote.

Shelton police issued a similar warning to residents last week regarding a text message scam.
