Another Building For Scinto; Digital Allowed to Expand

Both passed the Planning and Zoning Commission recently.

Corporate Drive in Trumbull will have a new building and Merritt Boulevard will have a bigger tenant.

Attorney Ray Rizio and Developer Rob Scinto presented plans to build a 93,046-square foot building on 6.5 acres at 50 Corporate Drive.

"They have a number of tenants interested in coming here," said Rizio, also calling it a "great revenue generator." Traffic will be light, he added.

"Scinto is prepared to start on this building right away," he added.

The Scinto company already has buildings on White Plains Road and Quarry Road.

"This building's going to blow the building out of the water," said Rob Scinto. It will have cantilevered glass entrances, eight loading docks and one driveway.

"This is going to be a massive excavation project," Scinto said.

"This developer likes to build quickly," Rizio said.

One office neighbor, Certified Public Accountant Kevin Wenig, was concerned about the view from his office.

But Scinto said, "There's going to be a big retaining wall so you really won't see the building."

"The Scintos would like to add another tremendous building to the Trumbull portfolio," Rizio concluded.

The commission asked for a bond for the project, but approved it unanimously.

Then 60-80 Merritt Boulevard LLC presented its plan for a 76,000- square foot addition for data backup, storage and recovery.

The new section will run all the time, but has backup generators, officials said.

Traffic will be light because staff will be minimal, said Walter Greaney Sr., Asset manager for Digital Realty Trust.

The building is one of the biggest taxpayers in town, next to the .

"It is an excellent addition to the town," Rizio said.

The commission also approved it unanimously.

First Selectman Tim Herbst, who formerly chaired the Planning and Zoning Commission, said he approved of additions to the town's Grand List, the list of all taxable property in town. The town saw a $93 million increase in the Grand List this year.
