Bert Lancia, 85 of Trumbull

Lancia served in the Navy during the Korean War and later became a Bridgeport Police officer for 33 years.

Bert J. Lancia, age 85, of Trumbull, formerly of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 6th, at Spring Meadows of Trumbull. Born in Bridgeport, CT on August 14th, 1931 he was the son of Bert and Doris Lancia.

Bert proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. After discharge from the Navy, Bert became a Bridgeport Police Officer. He served for 33 years and retired at the rank of Lieutenant, in 1987. He enjoyed Seaside Park and traveling to a home in Florida for many years after retirement. Bert will be missed by a sister, Evelyn Gritsko of Bridgeport, nieces Christine Libby (Lenn), Diane Marshall, and a nephew Francis Gritsko (Isabel), all of Milford and his several great nieces and great nephews. Bert also was a great-great Uncle to a great-great niece and several great-great nephews.Friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Stephen Church, 6948 Main Street, Trumbull, on October 29, 2016 at 10 am.

A special heartfelt thanks to the wonderful nurses-Deana, Karen and Sheila, for always going above and beyond to meet Bert's every need. To Mary Ann, and all the fabulous care providers, especially Bernie, (you are the best). We appreciate all that everyone has done to help Bert throughout his illness.
