Sunflower seeds are used to produce numerous things like cooking oil, medicine,
paint, animal feed and biodiesel fuel.
Sunflowers can remove toxic waste from the environment. Their long roots reach
deeply into polluted water and extract toxic metals.
Sunflower seeds can be eaten by humans and animals. They contain 55% protein,
have B vitamins, vitamins A and E, calcium, iron, nitrogen, and phosphorus.
Animals can even eat sunflower leaves!
Sunflower stems are used for paper making, and after they are burned, added as a
fertilizer to increase potash in the soil.
Mature sunflower seed sprouts contain chlorophyll, which helps revitalize tissue
and deodorize the body. Chlorophyll is used in breath fresheners.
In the last few years, a new form of low-pollen sunflower has been created. This
method will not only help reduce the risk of asthma for pollen sufferers, but
also increase the life of the flower itself.
