If you look at a town from a social, economic and educational perspective, towns with strong communities have KEYSTONES.

Figuratively and literally speaking, a keystone is a central supporting element that keeps a structure together, by connecting all of its parts.

You can effectively identify how important a KEYSTONE is within a community by analyzing it's attributes, it's connections, its support, it's impact on other organizations, businesses as well as it's effect on the OVERALL quality of life in town.

For example, our Trumbull Nature & Arts Center is connected to EDUCATION through schools, scouts, teachers, and various other community groups.

It connects us to important ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES through engagement, politics and partnerships.

It keeps us connected to the Natural world, and challenges us to be Environmental STEWARDS of our land.

It connects to local BUSINESSES through it’s ability to attract desirable economic growth, by drawing families.

It connects community through PARTNERSHIPS with corporations and other community groups through community impact projects that improve our open space and parkland.

It improves our quality of life.

KEYSTONES are critical to creating a successful community. You will find Keystones in Nature, in the form of species of plants and animals that are key to the successful growth and continuation of any wildlife habitat.

We need to take a cue from Nature, and understand the value and impact of Keystones in our community, and in our environment.
