Kids Events and Farmers' Markets for this Weekend

There's some great events for adults and kids this weekend and some are even FREE! Here's a list of Farmers' Markets in the area to check out as well.

There’s some great things happening on this beautiful weekend coming up that I want to tell you about.  So be sure to get outside and enjoy time with family and friends!

Let’s start off with the wonderful Farmers’ Markets and entertainment going on this weekend:

Today, Thursday June 7th, we have Westport’s Farmers’ Market going on at Imperial Avenue in the Commuter Lot.  You can’t miss it!  Lot’s of great vendor’s that supply anything from fresh veggies, to raw milk.  There’s wonderful bakeries that have everything Gluten FREE and it tastes delish!  So, that’s today from 10am to 2pm.

Saturday, June 9th, we have Fairfield’s Greenfield Hills Farmers’ Market at 1950 Bronson Road from 12:30pm to 4pm and it’s a big one!

June 9th, Greenwich’s Farmers’ Market in the Commuter Parking Lot off exit 3 (I-95).  This one goes from 9:30am to 1pm(WF&V Accepted and FMNP Authorized)

June 9th, New Canaan’s Farmers’ Market in the Old Center School Parking Lot (South Avenue & Maple Street) and will be going on from 10am to 2pmFMVP Authorized and WF&V Accepted!  Also, at the New Canaan Farmers’ Market, there will be entertainment by Bern McWain and he will be playing acoustic, classic Americana, blues, and New Orleans Style songs!  Sounds pretty amazing.  He will be playing here every second Saturday of every other month.  Come check it out!  Good food, great people and entertainment to boot.

Sunday, June 10th, we have Collinsville Farmers’ Market on Main Street, Downtown Collinsville – Town Parking Lot.  It will be open from 10am to 1pm and it’s their Opening Day!  They will also have entertainment - Bill Benson will be performingWF&V Accepted and SNAP.

Hope you can get out and make it to one of these.  As the month goes on and we get more into summer, there will be a lot more Farmers’ Markets for everyone to go too.

Monday, June 11 through Monday, June 18 – Meditation Vacation Station

Toquet Hall will be hosting a series of free meditation workshops for students. Taught by Westporter Laura Meisels, no experience is needed, and students can drop in. Come learn some techniques for becoming more relaxed and balanced.

Swimming, cycling and running for kids ages 4-14!  Through the fast growing sport of triathlon, children are given the opportunity to be fit and active, build strong friendships, and most importantly, reach their potential and have fun!

Planetarium Show: The Little Star that Could

Little Star, an average yellow star, searches for planets

of his own to warm and protect. Along the way he meets other stars, learns what makes each star special, and discovers that stars combine to form clusters and galaxies. Little Star also learns about planets and our Solar System.

Saturday Morning Bird Walk: Derby

Saturday, June 9

Come observe birds in the wild, sharpen your bird identification skills, or enjoy a morning hike through the grounds of the Kellogg Environmental Center and Osbornedale State Park.

Meet in the parking lot of the Kellogg Environmental Center and join volunteer Maria Stockmal for a relaxing weekend walk in search of local birds. All levels of birders are encouraged to participate. Walks last up to two hours, depending on conditions.

Mad Dash Challenge: Newtown

Fitness competition for advanced athletes, beginners and families (start times 8:30, 9 and 9:30, respectively) over course designed to be completed with partner will have participants jump, crawl, carry and climb their way to finish line, starts from and returns to NYA but course runs across much of Fairfield Hills
