So, What's the Deal with 'Planking'?

Is it an art form, an athletic stance, or just another silly fad?

For those of us who have been around for a while, we have seen many crazy fads come and go. We have lived through streaking, perms, platform shoes, pet rocks, and Flower Power. So how does Planking stack up? Is it an art form, an athletic stance, or just another silly fad? If you have no idea what I am talking about, Planking is the act of lying flat, face down balancing on a service with your hands to your side. You may need to look it up on Youtube to understand what I mean. An important part of Planking seems to be photographing your plank stance, and posting it on the Internet. People usually plank in public, seemingly to draw attention to themselves. It might be on a stairwell, in a grocery store freezer, on a sign pole, or recently a young man got in trouble for planking on a police car. Tonight on 'American Idol', a contestant brought her sister with her to plank on stage while she sang. So, how will Planking go down in history? Will there be famous artist exhibits of planker photography?, Will there be Red Carpet Hollywood Planker Awards? Will athletes embrace Planking as a form of strength exercises? Will our next presidential candidates be caught Planking on the Whitehouse steps?...or will the term 'Planking', and the thousands of Planking clips soon be stored away on our 'jump drives', another term soon to be replaced by the latest, greatest technology?
