Trumbull High School Wins 2nd Place at Academic WorldQuest 2012
Trumbull High School won 2nd Place at the 2012 Academic WorldQuest on Saturday, February 4th, 2012 at UConn/Stamford.
More than 60 students from area high schools in Fairfield and Westchester counties competed at the 2012 Academic WorldQuest competition on February 4th, 2011 at UConn/Stamford. Sponsored annually by the World Affairs Forum, the winning team will compete with students from around the country at the National competition on April 21st. The World Affairs Forum, whose mission is to expand understanding of global affairs and America’s role in the world, is an affiliate of the World Affairs Councils of America.
Trumbull High School was one of sixteen teams at the competition and took home 2nd place losing to Wilton High School by only a few points. The Trumbull High School team consisted of members of the school’s Model UN Club and We the People team led by seniors Michael McGuigan (captain), Daniel Bond, Johnathan Bui, junior Gulrukh Haroon, and advisor Katie Boland of the Social Studies department. Tony Savino, News Director, AM 1490 WGCH Greenwich, was the Game Master for the competition, which took place from 9:00am to 12:00pm at UConn/Stamford. The students had to answer ten rounds of trivia questions in various categories including US Education & Competing Globally, US Economic Competitiveness, the Middle East, NATO, and Azerbaijan.
