Car Thief Eludes Trumbull Officers

TRUMBULL, CT — Police pursued a suspect in a stolen car who ultimately escaped officers for now. Around 3 a.m. a Calhoun Avenue resident reported a suspicious vehicle driving slowly through the neighborhood along with a passenger who was trying to break into cars.

Police spotted the 2015 Honda Civic on Calhoun Avenue near Hyde Terrace. It has Connecticut plate AL90797. The vehicle drove over the front lawn of a Hyde Terrace residence and around a police patrol car.

The suspect vehicle eluded police and was last seen driving toward the Bridgeport town line. The vehicle was reported stolen from East Lyme on Dec. 26.

Several area residents reported their vehicles were burglarized.
